Work in Croatia

Croatia is a European country at the crossroads of Central and Southeast Europe, boasting a long coastline on the Adriatic Sea. Zagreb (capital), Split, Rijeka, and Dubrovnik are key economic and cultural hubs. Croatia has a developing high-income economy dominated by the service sector, particularly tourism, followed by industrial and agricultural sectors. It is a member of the European Union and the Schengen Area. Non-EU citizens need a work and residence permit to be employed in Croatia. This is typically applied for by the employer in Croatia on behalf of the worker.

OZO International provides assistance with obtaining work and residence permits, supported by confirmed job offers from Croatian employers.

Croatia Work & Residence Permit Process

Follow these simple steps to secure your Croatian work and residence permit and start your career in the European Union with confidence.

1. Job Offer & Labour Market Test

Secure a confirmed job offer. Your Croatian employer then initiates the process by conducting a labour market test (if required).

2. Work and Residence Permit Application

The employer submits the application for a work and residence permit on your behalf at the local police administration in Croatia.

3. Permit Approval

Once the permit is approved, the police administration informs your employer and the relevant Croatian embassy/consulate.

4. Entry Visa (Type D) Application

With the approved permit, you apply for a long-stay (Type D) visa at the Croatian embassy/consulate in your home country to enter Croatia.

5. Biometrics and Residence Card

Upon arrival in Croatia, you must register with the local police within 3 days to provide biometrics and collect your official residence card (boravišna iskaznica).

6. Start Your Job

Begin your new job and career in Croatia with the full support of OZO International.
